Carol Woolnoth has kindly agreed to organise the evening and has chosen "Separate Tables" by Terence Rattigan. There are two plays but we will be reading "Table number 1". He wrote it in 1958 and it is regarded as one of his finest pieces of work.
The setting is a private hotel in Bournemouth called the Beauregard.
The residents are mostly long term or 'regulars' who live on a budget and look on the hotel as their home. Both the hotel and the residents have seen better days!
The cast is as follows:
Mabel - young flighty waitress
Doreen - middle-aged, gloomy waitress
Lady Matheson - civil servant's widow
Mrs. Railton-Bell - a rather grand 65ish lady
Miss Meacham - racing enthusiast
Mr. Fowler - ex-public schoolmaster
Mrs. Anne Shankland - 40ish ex model
Miss Pat Cooper - hotel manageress
Mr. John Malcolm - journalist
And a young couple:
Mr. Charles Stratton
Miss Jean Tanner
There are 11 parts, so there will be plenty of opportunity for people to read.
